Each year, we spend the first three months of school building the foundation for reading through favorite storybooks. During this unit we spend time reading and enjoying storybooks. Students then use what they have learned to independently read the pictures and remember how the story goes.
These books will allow my students to independently interact with a greater variety of texts on a daily basis. These books are fun and easy to retell with rich storybook language. The more books a student can read, the better reader they become. Please consider helping my students gain a strong foundation of literacy through a greater variety of familiar storybooks.
