This year I have a wonderful group of 23 students who love school and are eager to learn. All of my students are English Language Learners, and they receive free breakfasts and lunches. The majority of the students in my class come from low-income families. Their parents do not have the resources to provide their children with the technological tools necessary to support their learning. Most of my students to do not have the opportunity to use technology outside the school environment, as they do not have computers or Internet access in their homes. This lack of access to technology puts them at a major disadvantage when competing with other students who are much more familiar with computers. My goal is to level the playing field for my students so that they can be competitive in their future endeavors and to foster an excitement about learning to read. My school has high expectations for its students, and we must provide them with necessary resources to meet these expectations.
