I LOVE teaching, but it wasn't until 2018 that I learned why so many of my students were struggling with reading and spelling. Dyslexia is often called the "hidden disability." Many times dyslexic students have higher than average IQs however they often struggle to decode and read fluently. 1 in 5 people live with dyslexia. From the moment I realized I needed to adjust the way I was teaching my students, my life changed. I have since dedicated as much time, money and energy as possible into learning about how best to teach dyslexic children. As a third grade teacher at a school that specializes in teaching children with dyslexia, I believe I have the best job in the entire world. I know I am making a difference and celebrating the gifts my students bring into the classroom each and everyday.
