My students are a blend of colors and cultures learning and blooming together for the future. They have a variety of personalities from the one whom you have to beg to talk to the most outgoing. Our classroom is designed for my students to work in a community group instead of standardized rows of desk, which I feel fosters their ideas.
Our school is a Title 1 school based on the economic disadvantages of our area and community. Many of my students are being raised by single mothers, grandparents or other family members. Although my students have and are witnessing a variety of hardships they still come to school with hopes of success. Our school is a safe environment where they can get some of their basic needs met along with developing skills for them to be positive productive citizens in their futures.
