My students are an amazing group of third graders. They are each so unique and lovable. The majority of my students come from low income homes and many have been exposed to things that no child ever should have to experience. Very few of my students have ever traveled out of the state and have had limited educational experiences. They lack a solid vocabulary and background knowledge that is beneficial in much of the reading and testing that is required annually of all students. Most of my students are reading below grade level, which negatively impacts all other subject areas. They lack access to technology and reading materials.
My school is a small, inner city, Title 1 school with 95% free and reduced lunch. Our students often have very little support at home and our classes are over-sized. We have a very dedicated staff who love working within our community. We care about the kids and want to see them succeed and to know that they can do anything they set out to achieve.
