My students come from a high poverty area. Our school is 70% Free and Reduced breakfast and lunch population. This year our school was funded for all children eating breakfast and lunch at school for NO CHARGE! This is so awesome because the children and teachers do not have to worry about hunger and that hunger being a distraction in the classroom. With our children it truly "takes a village" to educate them. We offer free uniforms, shoes, school supplies as well as help in getting glasses or dental care. It always brings a smile to my face when a child has clean clothes, school supplies they need, and a full stomach. The effect this has on the classroom learning is priceless. When my students use technology to learn about any subject they are so much more successful because they are interacting while learning at the same time.
