I will use an incubator and egg candler to hatch chicken eggs. Then the chicks will go into the chicken brooder with a heat lamp and LED bulb so the class can watch them grow and change. The students will use the feed to keep them healthy and strong. After reading The Hungry Caterpillar, the class will get to experience the process of going from caterpillar to butterfly with the butterfly pavilion. The class will enjoy the book The Grouchy Ladybug and then use live larvae in the Ladybug Growing kit to watch ladybugs hatch and grow. The Garden Vue will be used to plant root vegetables that my students can watch grow through the plastic windows. These experiences will allow my students to first hand life cycles of different animals and vegetables. This is so much better and rewarding for them than watching a video about it.
