We do a lot of collaborative work, and I do a lot of individual conferencing with my students on a daily basis, so I'm trying to raise funds for some tall bistro-style tables to use in class.
Traditional student desks don't really allow for good group discussion, and having to bend over for conferences kills my back.
The tall bistro tables will create a better environment for group discussions. Since the students will be facing each other, it will create a natural environment for discussion. Our school system wants us to implement more STEM skills, and this would go a long way in creating that atmosphere.
I do a lot of individual conferencing with my students as they are working on works-in-progress. Going from desk to desk and having to bend over to talk to them really makes my back ache, or I have to squat down which kills my knees. Tall bistro tables will allow me a more natural standing position.
