My students are special need students, ranging from 16 to 21 years old. Many of the students graduated with a Transition diploma and not able to move on to college, unless the GED test is passed. The students passion is to become licensed childcare teachers in their community. We have work-based learning sites that train our students on the skills needed to be successful in the field and the students hope to gain employment on these sites. Many, early childcare facilities require that the students come to training in uniform different than the employees, but professional. My students are from low-income homes, in foster care and can not afford the proper uniform that is presentable for work-training. Also, for the students that are ready for employment in a childcare setting; the childcare facilities require that the students have their Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential certificate before hire, so I would like to have all my students trained and ready for employment.
