My students are sixth graders at a rural school in South Dakota. They study history throughout the year and come into school on the weekend for History Club. They want to build a lending library for the elementary students to checkout American Girl books along with the doll! It would be such an exciting opportunity for the younger students who don't have expensive toys like American Girl dolls. Our school district is located on an American Indian reservation and we have many Lakota students along with Hispanic students. Our school is a melting pot and the students have become a family. Like the Tiospe of the Lakota people, our family is built on compassion and service towards one another. The students really embody that feeling and want to provide this amazing opportunity to their classmates, neighbors, friends...their family.
