We have typical teenage, high-school students that are inundated with technology and would much rather spend their free time gaming or interacting on social media than pick up a book and read. Our school is somewhat rural in nature and reading has never been much of a priority for these students. We have a very spirited school atmosphere when it comes to athletics; however, outside of that, there are limited club options for our students to participate in and become involved with other students at school. Our students have come to find the library as a welcoming place they enjoy hanging out at. It's not necessarily the hush, hush environment that libraries typically are, but rather a common place for all students.
