My students were born into a society in which technology is fully integrated into every aspect of their lives, except the classroom. Though the majority of my students are from a low-SES background in a Title I school, they show an eagerness to learn that is unparalleled by their more advantaged counterparts. As 10th graders, they exhibit a level of promise that is only hindered by the resources available to them. With that, my goal is to try to provide with every point of access to success possible. Aware of the fact that their school has been categorized as a priority school, has made them as well as myself even more determined to overcome the challenges ahead.
Many of my students have been placed in difficult life situations and school is where they go to escape reality. Many students come to school hungry and have their minds focused on things outside of school. Engaging activities are a must to help our students be successful in and out of the classroom.
