All of my students have hearing loss that range from mild to profound. All of my students have some sort of delay in language and vocabulary. Each student requires direct, eyeball to eyeball instruction in order to make catch-up growth. Communication modes vary from completely oral to American Sign Language. These students are in great need of intensive language development so that they may access the general curriculum independently. Without the right support, students who are 2 or more years behind in language miss most of classroom instruction. Many of my students have made more than a year's growth in a year's time.
My school contains a diverse population of students. The population of my school is over 700 students.
