Oculus has several software programs available and paid for by our school district. These programs focus on specific skills related to CPR, Emergency scene management and Crime Scene Processing that are directly tied to skills in the curricula that I cover in my classes.
This will allow students to experience a real-world scenario where they can apply the skills they learn in class and get timely effective feedback on their performance and how to improve it. Specifically, in EMR students are presented with an emergency scene where they can go through all of the steps of primary assessment like identifying hazards at the scene, determining patient level on consciousness and other skills. In another program, they can perform CPR on a person and get corrective feedback about rate and depth of compressions and ratio of breaths to compressions.
