Choosing a spot to sit is exciting for my students, especially those who need that extra motivation! I find that my students are more engaged, stay on task and willing to work longer, when they choose their seating spots! Encouraging them to find that just right spot and seeing them choose either a table spot, a beanbag chair or a soft spot on the floor, gives them some ownership and helps them feel like they are a partner in their learning! We will use these during independent reading time, word work centers and free choice!! I can already see them eagerly choosing a spot and getting to work!
