I have a diverse group of students with a class full of individual needs. From highly gifted, independent students to those who need one-on-one attention, to students who are just trying to grasp the English language, they are all learning to work together to face the challenges of middle school. Not only that, my students come from vastly different backgrounds and experiences, many who are on free and reduced lunch. They come to school eager, yet unprepared for the day.
Our school will be implementing the math common core curriculum for the first time and teachers and students alike are nervous yet excited for the challenges ahead. We are also dedicated to preparing our students for the 21st century, providing IPad carts and STEM electives to every grade level. In response to these changes, our classroom needs are also changing from paper and pencil to supplies that support the lessons.
