I teach Science and Social Studies to 57 eager 5th graders. I am in an inclusive classroom at a Pk-8 school. We are a Title 1 school with around 700 students. Over 70 percent of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. Our school is located in a small, economically challenged town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. These struggles are obstacles for my students' learning. They do not have the opportunities that many other students have. It is my goal to try to bring in as many resources that I can for my students. I do this through real life investigations in Science. When it is investigation day in class, I have a lab coat that I wear. The excitement my students have when they see me in my coat is priceless.
