My classroom consists of 28 unique students. They all bring different stories, experiences and knowledge to our classroom. It is a wonderful environment to teach in and to be a part of. However, it is often difficult to keep students engaged in reading when the material is not up to date nor appealing. My goal is to create a library of various series that will engage and relate to each of my students. I want them to want to read in school and on their own time. By the end of the school year, my expectations are that my students will leave wanting to continue reading throughout the summer. Reading is such a crucial aspect of a child's education. It can be a place for children to turn to when they need a retreat, when they need a friend, or just some peace and quiet. Reading cannot only help them as readers but also helps students write and speak as well.
