In the distance learning setting this school year, students have had to watch a screen as I read a book out loud and show them the pages under a document camera. It would make a world of difference if they could have their own hard copies to read and engage with. Rather than being limited to oral conversations as I read out loud, they could mark memorable quotes, track character development using sticky notes, circle unfamiliar words, underline context clues to help define them, and so much more. With such a beloved story like Charlotte’s Web, students would cherish having their own copy to connect to and make their own as we read and learn together.
