The goal I have for my students will prove to be a challenging one given the nature of the school I work at. I have served as an educator for three years at a low-income, high-poverty inner-city school. 98% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. For many of our children, the classroom is a safe place where they know they will be loved, nurtured, and protected for 7 hours of the school day. They also know they will be fed at least two meals during those 7 hours. Due to the harsh reality of the conditions our students live in, it has never been more important to the educators at my school to give these students 110%. We also expect 110% in return. These children deserve the absolute best if we wish to give them a fair chance at being successful in the real world. We strive for excellence and never give up.
