"There is no use trying, said Alice; one can'€™t believe impossible things."
"I dare say you haven'€™t had much practice,"said the Queen. "Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll
3rd graders do believe in impossible things, and I want that feeling of curiosity and wonder to be instilled every single day in my classroom. My school is a small, rural community at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. We are low on resources, but strong in ideas, and fierce pioneering spirits. We are in love with books. My students explode with excitement when they make connections between texts and science, social studies, reading, or math. When we study rocks, I have 20 eager children mining the classroom library for all the books on rocks that I have. They can't wait to tell me the information that they've found, and to share their knowledge with the rest of our class.
