An alarming number of students suffer from chronic stress and worry. This can lead to problems with concentration and learning, sleep disturbances, and increasing feelings of irritability, which can impact relationships with their peers and teachers. Many experts believe that when students return to school campuses in the fall of 2020 following school closures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be returning more anxious and stressed than ever before.
In conjunction with the school social worker, I plan to transform our office at school into a "relaxation room" for our students. With your help, it will be a peaceful space where our students can go to release emotions and learn and practice self-regulation techniques that will help them in the classroom and in life.
