I believe that reading is the building block and foundation for all other academic areas. It is my aspiration to show students that learning to read can be fun, especially in our cozy corner on our reading rug! I am currently a classroom teacher for special education second graders in an economically disadvantaged school. It is a high-need community which consists of mostly minority students where 90% receive free lunch. In addition, many of the students come from homes where the dominant language is not English and many of the students have special needs.
