My students are the future leaders of America, the next writer of a book that will make people think or leave their troubles behind. They are the nurses who will hold our hands while we struggle with pain. The laughing baker who saves us the last apple fritter and the garbage man who always waits for that last minute run to the end of the driveway. My students are a group of small town people who are willing to work towards goals. They are typically sweet, but sometimes distracted by sports and too much fun. Some are children who struggle with broken homes, lost homes, and distracted homes. Some are children with everything, but have their eyes closed to everyone. At my small rural school of 200, the teachers are the Music, PE teachers, nurses, referees, and part time mother for the students in our classrooms and it is our job to get students to think critically, value others, and learn to love learning, while meeting high standards.
