I am a fourth grade teacher entering my fifth year teaching. I have taught a wide range of students with differing skills and personalities. Each student walks into my classroom with different needs and wants. Working as a classroom community, we develop skills that will help foster their growth as global citizens. We learn best with tactile activities and discussion based lessons.
Our school caters to a low-income, rural area. The population of the town is small; however their heart is big as a community. They have stepped up together to work as a team, which models to the students what is needed for a healthy community. I have taught a diverse group of students, each student teaching me something different. I enjoy immensely the discussions we have together and the learning that takes place in our classroom.
