The center materials I am requesting will help me engage my students in their own learning by using different manipulatives. Comfy cushions will provide students with a special spot to read. Having individual journals will help students get excited about their writing as well as allow them to see their own growth as they look back on prior writing tasks. Students will use paint for special art activities that help extend their learning beyond just discussion and writing. For example, we do an activity throughout the year where we talk about the different seasons. Students get to use paint to represent what trees look like outside after each season. This year we plan to do even more artistic activities like this one.
