This project will encourage our students to get their hands dirty in bringing health and wellness to their bellies. Students will learn how to grow crops on their own and use the crops to make healthy after school snacks.
The wheel barrow and gardening tools will not only help students build and maintain their crops, but give them a sense of confidence and responsibility as they will be using the tools independent of the adults. Not only will students learn about the plant care but they will also learn how the food benefits their bodies. Additionally, students will learn how to care and nurture nature and recognize nature as a source of life and living. Students will also learn the benefits of reducing, reusing, and recycling as a means to preserving our planet.
Students will decorate and reuse milk cartons and plastic water bottles as planters to sell as a garden fundraiser so that we can sustain our school garden project.
As this project grows and students get excited about making their own healthy snacks, we hope that our school families will begin to purchase the student grown crops and start making healthy snacks as a family.
