My students are amazing. They range from 1st grade to 3rd grade with varying disabilities. I have students who are served under the categories of visual impairment, autism, intellectually disabled, specific learning disability, and other health impairment. Each student comes in with their own unique set of needs and personality. What works for one student, does not work for the other, or the next student. The one thing they have in common is the desire to be successful.
Our school is in a very low socioeconomic area, so some students lack proper food, clothing, and basic necessities. As a staff, we strive to assist our families as much as possible through various projects (e.g. adopt a family). We have learned to use supplies creatively and make do with what we have in our rooms.
