My students are a curious, active, and diverse group of learners. ours is a Title 1 school, and our children come from all walks of life. Some come with full belies, well rested, and ready to learn. Others need to have many of their basic needs met at school. Some of these students are distracted by their own lives, making it difficult to settle into learning. Finally, I also have some students for whom English is a second language, creating an additional barrier to the learning process. We meet our challenges as a classroom family, providing support to each other. This is accomplished through routines that promote caring, collaboration, and high level discussion. What is most important is that in the end, we can all learn from one another!
