Ask elementary students about their favorite class and many will answer: "PE!" It's no secret that students love the opportunity to move and play. Research demonstrates that engaging PE programs not only encourage healthy habits but also improve student performance in the classroom.
What fun is soccer without a goal? The focus of our PE curriculum is developing motor skills and foundational movement patterns and instilling lifelong health habits. These valuable lessons are often embedded in games and activities like soccer and pickleball which require specific equipment to be enjoyable.
Aside from football, most of my students have little to no experience with more obscure games such as pickleball and badminton. New equipment will allow us to expand our curriculum beyond the traditional sports and engage a wider student audience.
