My students come from working class families. Almost 40% of my classroom is made up of ELL students, in need of extended language support. They're thankful and hard working; they are encouraged to meet the challenge and be awesome. My students are goal driven, responsible learners that value time in the classroom. My students are cooperative and understand that they are in charge of their own learning and growth.
Our school is not a Title One School, therefore we do not receive much funding to support and enhance student learning. It was just last year that we got a smart board. Often we only get 25% of students who give the requested amount of 'classroom' money donated at the beginning of school. We have a lack of access due to a lack of opportunity. Our school library only has Bill Nye videos to offer for 4th grade content and standards.
