My students are second language learners. I use a lot of pictures to help them understand concepts. Since I do not draw well... AT ALL, I rely on pictures. In the past I have used a Polaroid camera but stopped because I couldn't get the film. A few years ago, I discovered a new line of Polaroid cameras were back and bought one. The students loved it! I used it to teach concepts such as opposites, nouns, verbs etc. Since the students were the stars of the pictures, they remembered to use the pictures as references. This year I would like to have students take the cameras home and capture photos of their families and neighborhoods. Using these pictures as a reference, I can teach many concepts. Students can complete writing assignments using the photos as well. At the end of the year, I want the students to be able to use the pictures to create a collage of their year.
