I am blessed to teach a group of diverse learners with a variety of learning needs and styles ranging from students with autism, ADHD, emotional behavior disorders, Down syndrome as well as specific learning disabilities in grades third through fifth spending the majority of their school day in the general education classroom with the support and services of their special education teacher. This allows students to build age appropriate social skills and positive peer relationships in the classroom setting without being isolated in a separate classroom. My students have rich individual personalities and learning styles and are excited to come to school each day and embark on a new learning adventure. They face challenges on a daily basis and struggle not only academically but emotionally and behaviorally learning everyday how to conduct themselves in the school setting. They are brave, courageous, hard-working children who face adversity everyday to foster their education.
