My school is made up of over 65% english language learners. Providing students with an opportunity to creatively express themselves in a manner that does not involve proficiency of either written or oral language is very important to my students. I teach every student in my school from Kindergarten through 5th grade, for a total of around 500 students. My students come for primarily low economic backgrounds, and have a very limited experience of the global community they are a part of. Located in an urban suburb of Denver, many of my students have never had the opportunity to see the city they live so close to.
