My students are from a poverty afflicted area with a limited knowledge of opportunity. Academically, they are one and two grade levels behind. Discouragement sets in when data shows our school to be among the lowest performing in the state, and the feeling of being left behind sneaks within the darkness of shadows. In spite of these dreadful details, the students are blissful, playful, and when given the chance are eager to learn. It takes dedicated educators to encourage the sparks that lie within the students.
I teach at a Title I school where 100% of the students are on free or reduced price lunch. My students need 8 computers with cases and 2 LED signs to implement technology in the classroom. These materials will help tremendously in furthering my goal for proficient and advanced learners. My students do not have personal textbooks or workbooks. The book adopted by the district has online activities and tests.
