My school is one of contrasts. Basic needs of most of my students are met at home as the majority of the students are middle class. However, my district receives the lowest possible dollar amount from the state, which leaves a giant need for basic supplies and technology at school. While this gap can be overcome on an individual basis, not all students/families can afford to do this on their own. My students have the potential to be the future leaders of the next generation, but they are being short changed by a system that doesn't provide them access to the materials they need to succeed and thrive.
