Our students are highly motivated to read graphic novels. Many are requesting Big Nate on a daily basis. Graphic novels increase their confidence in their reading abilities, and since they like reading them more than once, their fluency skills increase as they repeat graphic novels.
They love to read graphic novels together with buddies and siblings. Flexible seating will make the graphic novel reading nook a comfortable and appealing place to share a good book with a buddy. There is an area in our library with an empty shelf ready to be transformed. We currently have about 30 graphic novels, however students check them out faster than we can recirculate them. Imagine the biggest smiles you've ever seen when these students see new graphic novels in our library! They are going to love having a graphic novel reading nook so much!
About my class
