My students are great, but unfortunately they have been labeled in a negative light because of the area of which they live and their economic disadvantages. Eight-percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch, so we are a Title 1 school. So, we not only see the social economic disadvantage with the children, but we also experience it in our classroom from the lack of support and materials needed to teach our children. It is important to provide our students with experiences that will actually facilitate learning. It is especially important to provide theses experiences and support when you are teaching a low economic are because this is onetime the only experiences they will have.
