Help keep the music in their hands. I teach children who are very expressive and need hands-on experience with instruments to maximize our short classroom time. I teach in an impoverished area with a diverse population and Specials time is crucial to their day. My students encompass a wide range of emotional, mental, and physical challenges and Music class is one of the only times in their day where they feel successful, empowered, and encouraged. Instructing children from Kindergarten through eighth grade presents unique difficulties when resources are limited and my active little people will tend to make music with anything you put in front of them.
