Students in my high school seek and receive a nontraditional educational experience. The use of inquiry and project based learning opens their minds to innovative learning strategies, and the learning experience is never confined to the chalkboard. The student population is diverse in race, national origin, and cultural background and able to push and challenge all of the teachers to strive for more on a daily basis. The school is beginning its second year of being a STEM program high school, and both its population and need for resources are growing with each school year. This high school serves an impoverished but eager-to-succeed county system (with a high minority population) and provides its students with outlets for academic growth and development, pushing them to succeed and to be prepared for the world beyond the school's walls and the county's lines.
