My students are minority students who live in rural and poverty stricken North Carolina. They have very limited resources in the community, however persevere nonetheless. My students attend an early college program where they are able to take college courses along with their high school courses. These students are extremely dedicated to their education, and have promising visions for themselves and their futures. The lack of technology and the understanding of how technology works, the basic principals of electronics, and tools used in every day technology keeps the students held back, no matter how well they do on tests. Unfortunately, we can't test on how well they know how to email, but the real world depends on their knowledge and understanding of these crucial 21st century tools.
