My classroom is raucous, dynamic, and exhausting. The PE classroom is quite different from most, but valuable learning still takes place. The challenge is differentiating for each ability level, being unbiased in observation of proficiency, and engagement. As a Title 1 school my classes vary greatly by almost every descriptor: race, economic status, athletic ability, academic ability, social skills, confidence, etc.
The heart rate monitors solve most issues of bias and differentiation as the from them gives me individualized data as to how hard any student worked instead of me making a judgement. The soccer/futbol goals help increase engagement as the community I teach in has a culture and tradition of soccer.
