When we left school before quarantine I never thought we would not be back again until September. Living in a low-income neighborhood, most of the students do not have educational materials at home. The majority of our learning has been digital. At first, this was working, but now that schools will not reopen until September, they need more to be ready for kindergarten.
Developmentally, Pre-K children should be building and creating. They should be experiencing trial and error to learn how things work. These materials will give them a chance to put their minds to work in a real-life way.
These materials are open-ended and will allow them to access all subject areas, but especially math and letter recognition. With these materials in each child's home, I can assign developmentally appropriate activities and know that they can be completed. They will also be used to help students continue their learning through the summer months as well.
