It is said, that each student needs roughly 10 books for their book bins during their independent reading time. In that case, each teacher would need at least 180 books in their classroom! I would like to help put a dent in that number for the 2nd grade teachers by providing them with 40 books each from the Lakeshore Leveled Libraries. These books are high interest books that the students will LOVE to read.
When students have a plethora of book choices they take ownership of what they read which increases their level of engagement! That's why I included several books from Amazon that tie directly to our Science standards so students can read across all subjects! This project also includes headphone splitters for all grade levels to use for audio books and other reading apps. For our Kinder friends, I am requests drink stirrers that can be used for pointers. Pointers help the littles stay engaged and focused on the words they are reading. And for the students that need to get their wiggles out while they read, there are several bouncy bands in this project that will be shared among the entire school.
By donating to this project, you are impacting literacy, which will impact our learners!
