Our students are anxious to read. They live in a rural community with only a satellite public library with a small selection of books. Most of our students do not have library cards so their only access to books is from the school library. The students love to read and are always excited when we get new books, but because of the cuts in our budgets we are unable to get new books as often as we want. So for them getting to read books is a true joy. Most of the sets we have for classroom reading are 23 years old. They are mostly paperbacks and because we live in the high desert the glue dries out. Some of the books are being held together by tape and that eventually dries out.
