My students are very energetic and excited about learning. They range from being nonreaders to students reading a grade or two below grade level. They have many strengths and needs. It is very challenging to work with students who are very bright and capable of learning, but struggle because our classroom do not have the resources needed to support them.
Although most of them struggle with reading and learning traditional math, they have many ways of showing what they are learning about the world around them. With the use of technology and other visual supports these students are capable of working and learning right side of their peers without disabilities.
My school is great. The Special Education Teachers and support staff at my school is very supportive of each other. We work together to support all of our students. We share the few resources we have among the four special education classrooms. We do whatever possible to support our students and their families.
