This is our STEM classroom's 2nd year running and we are excited to begin creating a curriculum for each grade level. Lessons involving real world situations allow students to learn and understand how and why things work the way they do.
STEM gives students the opportunity to explore possible solutions for real world problems.
This year one of the grade levels worked on understanding how oil spills can affect the environment we live in. Students worked with a real life example of an oil spill to understand how it affects our environment. Students then worked to create an idea to help keep our environment clean when an oil spill does occur.
This hands on learning allowed students to see a real world problem and work to come up with solution ideas to help correct the problem. Now that's thinking outside the box!
