I've got a beautiful but mostly empty bookshelf in my new classroom. I am grateful that my school is able to prioritize both safety and student learning in a hybrid model, so I will have students in the building ready to learn U.S History since 1865 4 days a week! I would like to fill my bookshelf with inclusive, diverse, engaging and nuanced books that I will incorporate into my lessons. Students will also be able to check out these books to read at home (and check them back into my 72 hour covid quarantine library cart!) It's my 4th year of teaching, and it's time to bring my students books that will make them fall in love with history the way that I have.
