They are from low income families in a high poverty area. The furniture industries have shut down and work is less available. My students are eager to learn but resources in their homes are limited. Families cannot supply the school with these supplies. The school involves a diverse group of students. They all love reading and hearing stories read. They want to count and learn math skills.
They love our school and are smiling when they enter the door! We just need supplies and I want to nurture my student education and not worry about do we have construction paper, markers or even small things like paper clips or staples! I want us to come in and learn without an added worry. My students are happy and run to needed supplies all day and I want that to continue.
