Our students deserve to experience literature and learning through engaging educational activities. Integrating technology is one of the key ways to promote learning in an interesting and fun way. After attending the Elementary Technology Conference (TCEA) in Galveston, I was inspired to teach reading comprehension by using Ozobot robots. So many fun and engaging ways of learning were presented at the TCEA conference session titled 鈥淥OH, so Fun! Ozobots, Osmo鈥檚 and Hour of Code.鈥 I鈥檝e already planned activities that I can use with our students using the Ozobots.
These small robots will provide students an opportunity to experience books while learning the basic elements of coding. Students can write lines and color codes to allow their Ozobot to sequence stories, organize procedural texts, and map story elements. As an elementary librarian, I have the opportunity to see every student in the school each week for a literacy based mini-lesson. Plus, I have built-in flex time where teachers and I can work collaboratively to deliver learning to students. My goal is to make learning fun and exciting each and every time I see them so students will be eager and engaged learners. I am hoping with your support our students will soon be able to participate in these learning activities!!
